In order to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the school setting, where children gather, there needs to be cooperation between home and school. Parents are requested to contact the School Nurse if their child has been diagnosed with the following:

  • Chickenpox
  • Strep throat or Scarlet fever
  • Pink eye (Conjunctivitis)
  • Fifth Disease
  • Impetigo
  • Ringworm
  • Head Lice (Pediculosis)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • German Measles (Rubella)
  • Mumps
  • Shingles
  • Whooping cough (Pertussis)
  • Infectious Hepatitis
  • Mononucleosis

Common head colds or sore throats are very contagious during the first three days. A student with cold symptoms should be kept out of school and properly treated at home. A child should not be sent to school if he/she has had a fever, vomited, or has had diarrhea in the past 24 hours.
